Scurry is home to the Scurry-Rosser Independent School District, a small public district serving Scurry and the surrounding Rosser area. Scurry sits on State Highway 34, which runs northeast to Kaufman about four miles away and southwest toward Ennis. The reservoir, one of the larger and most popular lakes in North Texas, lies a short drive southeast of town and offers boating, fishing, camping, and lakeside communities. Closer to home, the town's school fields and small parks serve local needs, while Kaufman provides additional parks and recreation. The open prairie and nearby lakes make the area a base for fishing, hunting, and outdoor life.
